Sync Your Google Contacts

Google Contacts Sync makes it easy to keep your client information available wherever you work. Once connected, Fetch automatically creates and updates Google Contacts for your clients, allowing you to call, text, email, or navigate to a client’s address directly from your phone or the Google Contacts app.

Whether you’re in the training field, visiting a client’s home, or away from your computer, your client information is always within reach.

Connect Google Contacts

To connect your Google Contacts account:

1. Go to Settings
2. Select Profile & Team and select your profile
3. Click Integrations
4. Under Google Contacts, click Sign in with Google
5. Choose the Google account you would like to use.
6. Review Google’s permissions and click Allow.

If you’ve already connected your Google account for Google Calendar, you’ll instead see a Grant Google Permission button. This simply adds permission for Google Contacts, you won’t need to reconnect your Google account.

What information syncs?

When Google Contacts Sync is enabled, Fetch automatically syncs the following information whenever it’s available:

• Client name
• Phone number
• Email address
• Mailing address
• Animal names and breeds (added to the contact’s Notes)

There are no additional settings to configure. If the information exists in Fetch, it will be synced automatically.

Automatic background syncing

Once connected, Fetch keeps your Google Contacts up to date automatically.

Contacts are updated whenever:

• A new client is created
• A client’s information is edited
• An animal is added
• An animal is renamed
• An animal is removed

There’s nothing you need to do, your contacts stay current in the background.

The “Fetch Clients” contact group

The first time you enable Google Contacts Sync, Fetch automatically creates a contact group called Fetch Clients inside your Google Contacts.

Fetch only manages contacts within this group and never modifies contacts outside of it.

If you accidentally delete the Fetch Clients group, don’t worry, Fetch will automatically recreate it the next time a client syncs.

Your information stays safe

Fetch is designed to update only the information it knows about.

For example:

• If a client has a phone number in Fetch and it changes, Fetch updates it in Google Contacts.
• If a client doesn’t have an email address stored in Fetch, Fetch won’t remove an email address you’ve manually added in Google Contacts.
• Fetch never automatically deletes Google Contacts.

If a client is archived or no longer active in Fetch, their Google Contact simply stops receiving updates.

Turn off Google Contacts Sync

If you’d like to stop syncing contacts, you can turn off Google Contacts Sync at any time from the Integrations page.

Turning off Contact Sync:

• Stops future contact updates
• Leaves your Google account connected
• Does not affect Google Calendar Sync
• Does not delete existing Google Contacts

You can turn syncing back on at any time without reconnecting your Google account.

Disconnect your Google Account

If you’d like to completely remove Fetch’s access to Google, use Disconnect Google Account from the Google Account panel.

This will:

• Disconnect Google Calendar Sync
• Disconnect Google Contacts Sync
• Revoke Fetch’s access to your Google account

If you reconnect later, you’ll simply grant Google permission again for the features you’d like to use.
